About VOOR
VOOR Architectural Design is a commercially focused architectural consultancy based in Lincolnshire, delivering practical, high-quality design solutions across the UK.
VOOR was built around a simple principle, architecture should create measurable value for the client. That means understanding how a business, building, or site needs to function, then developing design solutions that respond to commercial objectives, operational demands, and the long-term vision for the project.
While food and beverage remains an important part of our experience, it is only one part of the wider picture. Our work spans a broad range of sectors, including commercial developments, industrial environments, spa and wellness spaces, places of worship, high-end residential projects and new housing developments. This breadth allows us to approach each project with both technical discipline and commercial awareness, without being confined to a single market.
From early concept development through to technical delivery, our focus is on creating architecture that performs in the real world, for the client, the operator, and the people using the space every day.
As VOOR continues to grow, our ambition is to deliver work nationally and internationally, bringing the same direct, commercially grounded approach to projects of increasing scale, complexity, and impact.
The VOOR Ten
10 principles for how we work, lead, create, and communicate.
01.
Let your yes be yes.
We are honest in word, work, pricing, promises, and delivery.
02.
Serve before you sell.
We lead with value. We put people before ego, commission, or convenience.
03.
Build with excellence.
We do not offer lazy work. We bring care, craft, and discipline to everything we touch.
04.
Let words build, not break.
Our words matter. We do not gossip, exaggerate, manipulate, or tear down. We use language to build trust and bring clarity.
05.
Be faithful in the small things.
The details nobody sees still matter. Integrity is built in private before it is seen in public.
06.
Choose clarity over cleverness.
We do not hide behind jargon, ego, or unnecessary complexity.
07.
Honour the person in front of you.
Clients, colleagues, audiences, and customers are people before they are numbers.
08.
Steward what is entrusted to you.
Time, budgets, relationships, platforms, and attention are both responsibilities and privileges to be stewarded wisely.
09.
Walk humbly. Act justly.
We own our mistakes, seek what is fair, and refuse to profit from confusion or exploitation.
10.
Let the work bear fruit.
We measure what matters: trust, transformation, growth, reputation, and lasting impact.

Mission statement
VOOR exists to serve businesses through architecture shaped by honesty, clarity, excellence, and stewardship. Our work is commercially useful, technically disciplined, and built to bear lasting fruit.
From complexity, order.
How it all started
VOOR was created to bridge a gap we kept seeing in the industry. Design and build are too often treated as separate worlds. Drawings are produced away from site, coordination happens too late, and practical issues are left for contractors to solve during construction.
Our experience working closely with live sites, contractors and end users shaped a different approach. VOOR focuses on design that is clear, coordinated and buildable from the outset.
The name VOOR comes from Voorhout, Ellis' grandfather Bill's birth town in the Netherlands. Bill came to the UK in the 1950s and built a small farm, growing tulips and raising livestock. That background of practical work, resilience and making things properly sits behind the business.
In Dutch, voor can mean “before”, “for”, or “in front of”. For us, that reflects the role we aim to play: thinking ahead, standing at the front end of a project, and bridging the gap between design intent and what actually gets built.
