Associated Seafoods Ltd. - High Care & Low Risk Food Facility

Project type

Food Manufacturing & Production, High Care & Low Risk, Offices & Staff Welfare.

Date

2021

Location

Buckie, Moray Scotland

VOOR transformed and extended an existing industrial unit in Buckie into a high care food production facility for Associated Seafoods, supporting salmon processing, smoking, value-added production, packaging, blast chilling, cold storage, offices, and staff welfare. The original project listing categorised the scheme as Food Manufacturing & Production, High Care & Low Risk, with office and welfare accommodation integrated into the facility.

The project was driven by operational performance as much as building work. VOOR worked with food technical teams to ensure the design supported HACCP requirements and responded to significant microbial and allergen control risks across multiple seafood lines. The scheme also used architectural measures, including drainage-led contamination control strategies, to reduce food safety risk within a complex processing environment.

The result was a facility built to support safe, efficient, high-volume food production for Marks & Spencer supply. The original project page states that the completed facility achieved a BRCGS AA food safety audit rating, while wider public reporting in September 2021 described the March Road site as a refurbished and expanded factory delivering new production capacity and local job growth in Buckie.
